Microsoft ACCESS is an astonishingly powerful tool enabling non-technical users to produce simple database applications which once required a highly-skilled team of computer programmers.
Furthermore, work which once took weeks and months can now be completed in a few hours.
Although the ‘quick and dirty’ database is sufficient for many purposes, a higher level of technical skill is required to produce more ‘robust’ applications with a neat user interface.
The experience developer can also advise where alternative software might be a better solution—for example, a simple spreadsheet might be the best way to handle small volumes of data with simple relationships and a basic accounting package is often cheaper than attempting an in-house development.
Our standard charge for database development is £50 (+VAT) per hour though we are happy to quote fixed prices, where appropriate.
Database requests can generally be completed within a few days.
We presently use ACCESS from MS-Office 2010 but have version 2007 available, if required, and can support earlier versions installed on client sites.
Where a fixed price is quoted, it will include 4 weeks of on-going support to cover issues arising and minor amendments.
