All Windows users will have experienced the deterioration of PC performance which is often noticeable just a few months after purchase.
Generally speaking, there is no single reason for this and the causes can include:
- Uninvited ‘startup’ programs
- Software conflicts and ‘known’ problems
- Slow internet access
- Incomplete software installation
- Windows ‘registry’ corruption
- Virus and other malicious software activity
- Disk ‘fragmentation’ and data errors
- Insufficient disk space
There are various scanning programs available which help to identify some of these problems but these are best used by people who understand the technical environment in which they are working.
Because the scanning for viruses, disk errors, etc, can take some time, we prefer to perform the PC cleanup operation by ‘remote assistance’ where the quality of the internet connection permits.
Of course, poor performance may be a result of hardware errors though these can often be identified remotely in the first instance.
Our current charge for a single PC Cleanup by remote assistance is £50 + VAT.
